Student Activities

Foundation Scholarship

APPLICATION PERIOD HAS CLOSED

Applicants for scholarships awarded by the ASHRAE San Diego Chapter must meet and adhere to the following:

Scholarship Available for 2010

Criteria

  1. Be a potential contributor to the HVAC profession.
  2. Attend at least one (1) chapter meeting and at least one (1) student chapter meeting per semester or quarter.
  3. Be enrolled in a school with an ABET accredited engineering program at the time the scholarship application is submitted.
  4. Satisfy one (1) of the following criteria:
    1. Be enrolled in a four-year mechanical engineering program.
    2. Be enrolled in a mechanical engineering or HVAC course and be working in or have experience in the HVAC field.
  5. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher

Requisites

  1. Complete and submit a scholarship application form.
  2. Write an essay of 500 words or more describing intended future career goals and plans.
  3. Submit official transcript or record of academia achievement.
  4. Be present to accept the scholarship at the chapter's installation and awards banquet in June of the current academic year. In cases where the academic year ends prior to the banquet, the applicant must be present at the previous May chapter meeting to receive the scholarship.

Important Dates

  1. Applications must be completed and be received by the ASHRAE San Diego Chapter Student Activities Chair no later than 5 p.m. on May 17th, 2010. The applications that have been received and are complete will then be presented 10 day prior to the Officers and Board of Governors at the Board of Governors meeting that takes place on the first Tuesday of June.

  2. After 10 day review period, scholarship recipients will be selected at the Chapter's Board of Governor meeting in May of the current academic year with the presentation of the Scholarship(s) taking place at the Chapter's Program event in June of the current academic year.
