September Meeting: Achieving Total Flow Control in Hydronic Systems

September 14th - Past Presidents' Luncheon
11:30am - 1:30pm
The Butcher Shop

Topic:

This presentation will address the challenges faced when developing an effective solution to balancing for variable flow.

Building owners, designers and contractors are being challenged to not only provide the basic creature comforts but also to do so in a cost effective and energy efficient way. In a variable flow system, balancing for variable flow means matching the flow to the load under all operating conditions and at all heat transfer devices. In a conventional system, multiple devices are employed in order to atempt to accomplish the above. We will examine those elements and look closely at how differential pressure and pressure independent control might help us accomplish those goals.

About the Speaker:

This presentation will be presented by Bill England. Bill is the Hydronic Training Manager for Flow Design, Inc.. He has over 25 years of experience in the HVAC Sales and Engineering Field. In his current position, he conducts technical training sessions for in house, as well as consulting engineers, owners and facilites personnel on various topics including variable flow and pressure independent control.

Bill's education includes a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and an MBA from the University of Baltimore. He recently completed extensive training at the Hydronic College of Tour and Anderson in Sweden.
