Essential Functions/Responsibilities: 
Individual will be fully responsible for leading the planning and execution efforts for all aspects of our energy services group tasked with delivering energy efficiency, energy management, and green buildings applications to our clients.

Responsibilities: range from scoping and proposal stage of services, to directing and managing the resultant projects to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing energy efficiency projects, conducting energy engineering analyses, and writing reports, developing/analyzing energy conservation measures for proposals, lead others in the energy service support groups in providing energy services, be capable of leading energy consulting meetings for design and construction teams, participate in the development and implementation of LEED projects, have the ability to work as a third party to traditional in-house A/E design teams to assist in materials and systems selection, verify energy performance of the various proposed and designed systems and provide a knowledge of building and energy codes as well as energy and commissioning standards for each project of the Energy Program and oversee support staff. This position will include responsibility for maintaining overall budget and profitability targets.

Basic Qualifications:
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position. The preferred candidate qualifications include: Bachelor of Science in BSME or BSEE with ten (10) years minimum energy consulting and analysis experience. CEM and LEED accreditations are recommended.  Knowledge of the design and operation of mechanical and electrical systems for commercial, institutional and federal facilities as they relate to energy conservation for such facilities.

Working knowledge of building automation and controls systems for HVAC, lighting and renewable technologies. Ability to meet with clients to co-manage projects, present results and develop new scopes of work. Experience in developing new business opportunities. Knowledge of building and energy codes as well as energy and commissioning standards. Experience with energy audits of existing buildings. Experience with the commissioning of new and existing facilities. Experience with energy modeling of new construction and existing building renovations. Experience in performing energy analysis of multiple system options and presenting recommendations in both a written and oral format. Working knowledge of DOE2, Trane Trace, Carrier HAP or Energy Plus simulation software. Professional Registration desired

Senior Energy Engineer - Carlsbad

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering 8 years experience with at least 5 years experience in the energy savings or a related industry (HVAC, refrigeration etc.). A related Masters degree and/or California P.E. license is preferred. You must have prior experience with utility projects and be able to relate system design to kW savings and have a sense of measurement. You need to have the ability to interpret and understand mechanical and electrical drawings as well as equipment nameplate data. Experience with integrated energy audits is helpful. You need to have experience with building modeling simulation software, eQuest preferred. You must also have excellent communications, computer and project skills. Previous management would be a plus. You must have reliable transportation because this position requires considerable travel to customer sites.

Research Facilities Design

LABRATORY ENGINEER
Research Facilities Design is seeking Laboratory Engineers with a minimum of 3 years experience in mechanical engineering for building HVAC and plumbing systems. Registered Professional Engineering (PE) license is a benefit. At a minimum, candidate shall have completed Engineer in Training (EIT) licensing and be seeking a PE license. Energy Efficiency Engineer
Customer Service – Major Markets
SDG&E’s Energy Efficiency Engineers assist major commercial and industrial customers in the identification of energy management strategies and energy project opportunities that will help them meet their energy and environmental goals. They educate the customer in applicable energy technologies and rate tariff considerations, helping them to select the best-fit solutions for their energy conservation efforts. Our EE Engineers promote the successful implementation of promising energy projects by assisting customers with application to SDG&E’s incentive and rebate programs, which aim to improve a project’s economic viability and its chances for funding approval.

EE Engineers are tasked to investigate new energy efficiency and demand response technologies, identify their application in our customers’ business operations, and then work with other internal and external parties to help accelerate customer adoption. They provide other types of energy-related technical support to customers, their assigned SDG&E Account Executives, and to other internal parties as requested.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical support to identify, develop, and help customers obtain approval for energy projects;
  • Assist with participation in incentive and rebate programs;
  • Identify new opportunities for incentives and rebates;
  • Inform customers on energy-related regulations and rate tariffs impacting their business operations and proposed energy projects;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering;
  • Must have or be able to obtain CA Engineer-In-Training certification; CA Professional Engineering Registration is highly desirable;
  • Prior experience in a utility, plant facilities/operations, or a technical sales field, and familiarity with common energy end-use technologies, including lighting, HVAC, and gas heating is preferred.  Knowledge of manufacturing and process support equipment, systems, controls or experience in Data Centers, Information Technology, Communications, Bio-Technology, or other high-tech’ industry is a plus;
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Proficiency in public speaking is highly-desirable;
  • Significant knowledge of photovoltaics and other self-generation technologies, proficiency in using building modeling software (EnergyPro, eQuest), and AEE Energy Manager certification (CEM) are all considered pluses for this position;
  • Must maintain a valid California Driver’s license and vehicle liability insurance, as local self-transportation is required.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and process development.
  • Analyze process capability and develop and implement improvement plans.
